Countless research shows us that people are the most productive in work when they enjoy what they do, have the opportunity to connect with those around them, and can have some fun along the way. There is no doubt that creating an atmosphere of fun is challenging in a hybrid working environment. To build a strong relationship within your team, you should create an environment enabling fun. Enabling your leaders to be enthusiastic, empathic, and friendly can lead the way to your people. Show them how to build a relaxed relationship, that they can communicate freely and openly. It can help to focus on smaller moments that matter, and be intentional around how we use the digital and physical space to our best advantage.
In a pre-Covid environment, team building was common place. Now, with a dispersed workforce, it can be tricky to bring people together. As we move into the Summer, we are seeing more organisations organise the traditional get togethers, such as away-days and BBBQs. We are also seeing organisations focus on smaller events, such as a coffee morning, to encourage people to come back together in a casual way as they build up connections again. A fun activity can be a great ice-breaker to bring people back together.
